The Road To Success

March 14, 2016

Three and a half years ago I was given an opportunity beyond my dreams. It was something I’d never even considered a possibility. I met Trevor Cochrane, a popular television personality in Australia, and he asked me to be part of a pilot presentation for the Food Network with his production company. As an entrepreneur and a very driven person, my first response when something is asked of me is YES! Even if I have no idea where the skill or time or resources will come from to complete the task, I say yes. I may scramble, fail, get cranky, disheartened in the process, and feel like I’m spreading myself too thin - which are really just signs that I’m uncomfortable. That’s good news! When I am uncomfortable, I am growing. I always find myself further on my path than if I said no. I’m also gifted the lessons, the newly gained skills, and the value of experience. Yes is one of my favorite words.

One of my tricks in accomplishing the perceived impossible is confidence. It is instant fuel to charge a situation that may appear challenging. I don’t call upon my own stores of self esteem, I let the mere fact that someone else believes I can do something buoy my confidence. My parents raised me to believe that I could do anything I set my mind to, and I never thought to doubt them. Trevor asked me to rise to the occasion and I delivered! The network passed on our pilot but I had so much momentum and charged confidence, I kept going.

I wrote for Trevor’s gardening lifestyle magazine for two years developing recipes. I created articles sharing my love for New York City and my seasonal food experiences here. Those assignments gave me confidence to create this blog and All Good Things was born! I discovered my voice and how I want to show up in the world. I continue to provide food for clients each week, but there’s only so much I can do in my own kitchen, right? So now I empower my readers to cook and discover things for themselves. I got clarity on how to bring spirituality into the kitchen; a mindfulness, a sense of gratitude, ritual and generosity when we prepare food for one another. Sharing the blog every Monday has become one of the favorite parts of my life.

All Good Things has had a busy year behind the scenes with the intention to expand the blog into a book. This remains one of my ultimate goals and the dream that brings me infinite joy. But my road to success has been under some major reconstruction. Here’s what I’m learning - small dreams might have a direct route. A road that is easy to navigate with quick results. Loftier goals or more sizable dreams might have a different kind of road map, a lengthier time frame. There can be bridges to cross, obstacles to climb over, detours, pit stops, rerouting when you get lost, you run out of gas, you run out of money… and on and on. The biggest lessons: I can't stop believing in myself. I must keep going!

All Good Things has taken a very exciting turn. I’m happy to introduce you to All Good Things the video series! I am releasing these videos with the hopes of many clicks, likes, hits, shares, and comments. (That’s where you can personally help me on my road to success!) Once the videos live out in the world for a while and have been showered with your love and support, they will be pitched to media outlets and producers to grow into a consistent offering. Please SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube channel, share it with your Facebook groups, your email lists, your Google hangouts, on LinkedIn, and especially with your families and friends. Thumbs ups and comments on the videos are appreciated too. All of this activity will add to the value of All Good Things and help it grow into something bigger. Thank you in advance!

I’m proud of and humbled by this announcement. I had a team of people that believed in me and kept my confidence flowing throughout the whole process. Nicola Kraus expertly produced and directed the videos and guides me in all things career related. Liv Behre beautifully shot and edited the videos. Her creativity and commitment are profound. Cheryl Stockton, my food photographer for all of my creative ventures, provided the still photography in the videos that gave life to my recipes. All three of these ladies are true friends and I am so very grateful they are in my life. I’m sending an extra special thank you to Trevor for the opportunity to say YES so long ago. He planted the seeds for me to grow into a food presenter on the page and to host my own show right now on your screens! I can't wait to see where my road to success leads me after this. Now start clicking!
